My quilting journey began at just eight years old when my grandma gave me my first sewing machine and brought me to the Prairie Quilt Guild’s Kids Quilt Camp. What started as a week of quilting with my grandma quickly became a treasured
summer tradition and the beginning of my journey as a young quilter. In 2020, an
unexpected elbow injury put quilting and many of my favorite activities on hold. Yet, during that difficult season, I was invited to attend the adult quilt camp, where I designed a watermelon quilt after realizing I could not find a pattern that matched my vision. That simple idea became the beginning of Angela’s DIY Designs, and in 2022, I published my first quilt pattern, the Watermelon Patch Quilt.
Today, I am a young quilt pattern designer and entrepreneur whose work includes designing original patterns, selling patterns through my website and Etsy shop, wholesaling to quilt shops, vending at quilt shows, speaking at quilt guilds and events, and teaching quilting and sewing classes. My playful patchwork designs feature animals, fruit, seasonal themes, faith, and more.
My quilts and patterns have been featured at regional quilt shows, and in 2024, my Patchwork Paradise quilt won first place in the youth category at the Common Threads Quilt Show. I am especially excited to return to the Prairie Quilt Guild, the very guild that helped plant the seed of my love for quilting, this time as a speaker.
